Encouragement to the Providence Church

Revised and re-submitted by the author of The Enlightened Being.

There is only one truth in the world. The path to approaching truth is difficult and arduous. Those who have experienced the truth and already understood its principle will easily recognize others who have found truth through different paths, and acknowledge the path that they have taken to get there.

Those who have realized know that human beings are on their long journey to resemble a divine being, and the universe knows why it has to be that way regardless its size and complexity. A world where there is no counterpart is a world where it is impossible to recognize one’s existence. Imagine a world where there is only light without shadows. In this world, the light cannot recognize its existence by itself. Therefore, there needs to be counterparts for one to recognize his existence.

Through this process, we realize that we are all one. We are not much different than others. Therefore, those who realize understand that there is no “others.” They learn to liberate themselves from the pressure of trying to distinguish oneself, and become one with others. Those who are liberated learn to take action as the “bigger I.” I know that the source of power that makes me think on a bigger scale is love, and I would like to testify.

I came to know Providence church through my children who are affiliated with the church. I had an opportunity to participate in few meetings before, and I felt that after listening to Pastor Joshu’s words, whether they were sermons or testimonies, I came to realize that he is a man who has reached realized much, and that the messages he delivers were a bit different than those of the so-called “orthodox” denomination.  At that time I had an impression that so-called “traditional” churches were not testifying about Jesus well. As I mentioned above, we are passing through the world of counterparts to become divine beings. Therefore, there are both righteousness and wickedness in us that we are able to choose through our free will. Of course, the standard for which is righteousness and wickedness is perhaps not set by a god; however, we can say that what is righteous is closer to where our goal is on our path of becoming divine beings.

In traditional denominations, one threatens that human beings are sinners from birth, and without being forgiven of the sins we would end up in hell. They claim that we have to “repent.” I’m not sure if the word “repent” in Korean is misunderstood from the beginning, or whether it was translated wrong from the beginning, but we have to understand that what Jesus meant by “repent” is to go back to our first heart. This word contains the meaning of who we are, why we live in this world, with what kind of heart we have to experience the physical life, and with what kind of heart we have to go on our journey of becoming divine.

In Providence churches, they borrowed Christian expressions to deliver the messages, but I also felt that a lot of it has to do with believing in your ability to change and going for it. I believe that this is the attitude for which all of us need to have on our path to becoming one with God.

I have heard that Providence churches receive tremendous persecutions and threats because its teaching is a bit different from orthodox doctrines. The reason why I mentioned above that truth is one, is because it has many different ways to approach it. I hope and encourage all the Providence members that you will not be shaken but walk courageously.
